Slacktivism

       

Slacktivism  is usually considered a pejorative term that describes "feel-good" measures, in support of an issue or social cause, that have little physical or practical effect, other than to make the person doing it feel satisfied that they have contributed. Slacktivism can be defined as the act of showing support for a cause but only truly being beneficial to the egos of people participating in this so-called activism. usually slacktivism requires minimal effort many websites like Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook allows access to slactivists to Like, Share or tweet what an individual thinks is interesting. wether its sharing a quote, posting a picture of them drinking coffee. you get to see what  that person likes and usually can relate to. slactivism is seen in politics or in a cause that you think is important for example, organizations like 96 Elephants and the documentary they spread awareness on captivity of the orcas in Sea World since Blackfish came out in 2013 people have come together to spread awareness and have boycotted the theme park.  A reason why I would post or share what I share mainly on Twitter has to do with what is accurate of how I'm feeling or and letting people know without actually telling them myself.
